About the Violin and me

When I saw a violin for the first time in my life I was 10 years old. It happened that I stepped into a rehearsal of a children´s orchestra and instantly fell in love with this beautiful instrument. My decision was clear: I had to play the violin. Until then I had been quite happy with flute and piano, but from that moment on there was no other option then starting with violin. And so my story with this instrument began.

After this very clear beginning there came of course other times as well. Sometimes full of motivation and enthusiasm, but sometimes also with frustration and the question why I had chosen just this demanding and capricious instrument and the doubt whether to go on or not. But I never could abandon it.

Actually it were my own doubts about how to develop my playing, my own difficulties with the learning process which woke up my curiosity for the didactics. And so I became an enthusiastic teacher, always interested in getting to know easy ways for the pupils to learn complex things and to make them enjoy their learning process. I came in touch with a variety of teaching methods and started extracting my own ideas.

Since I was suffering some problems with tensions in my back and neck pain I discovered the F.M. Alexander Technique. It helped me a lot to understand my moving and playing habits and to overcome my problems. Now I can use my experience to help my students to have a good body perception and to prevent them from developing unuseful playing habits.
